A fabricator is responsible for assembling either components or the finished product of a piece of equipment or machinery. Job responsibilities of a fabricator include fabricating and assembling machinery and equipment, assembling tools and materials, inspection of the final product to ensure all parts are screwed and fitted properly, preventative maintenance on the assembled products, ensuring that health and safety standards are met, ensuring inventory is at proper levels, placing orders for additional supplies, and participating in product development.
A high school diploma or an associate's degree is required in order to be a fabricator. Helpful job skills include hands-on task ability, mechanical and technical knowledge, active listening, good communication skills, ability to work both in a team and independently, good critical thinking skills, ability to problem-solve, and attention to detail.
