STgenetics is looking for an organized, optimistic, and talented individual interested in expanding his or her professional research and data analysis skills. This position will allow you to expand skills in using sensors to identify typical animal behaviors. The role will be with our Farmfit R&D team, who work hard to create new technology with producers and breeders to help them meet their genetic and reproductive goals

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observe and log animal behavior in person and via camera footage.
  • Assist in appropriately outfitting the animal with appropriate technology bolusing and attachment of neck collars.
  • Retrieve neck collars and upload data into csv spreadsheets.
  • Labeling observed animal behaviors and label corresponding sensor data (i.e. Walking, eating, laying, ruminating, estrus, and calving)
  • Collecting data and running small experiments in lab environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on presentation skills
  • Comfortable working with and handling cattle.
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • MSSQL Management studio knowledge is nice
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
