Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Energy Division at our refinery located in Laurel, MT. We are looking for an Operations Specialist (not to exceed 1820 hours per year) to provide administrative and clerical support to relieve and assist management and staff of administrative details in a refinery setting. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a practical knowledge of departmental and company policies and procedures to gain specialized skills in a variety of processes and activities.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Prepare routine reports setting up files and records accordingly.
  • Oversee certain aspects of the Prism Software Suite residing in the Refinery Training Department.
  • Maintain accurate training records by category and dates into the database.
  • Assist Refinery Training personnel in maintaining spreadsheets on employee training records.
  • Assists the EH&S Administrative Assistant with their duties as time allows.
  • Establish, build, and maintain relationships with other administrative staff providing backup functions.
  • Perform various administrative duties as needed to support the various departments and employees.
  • Provide support and backup for the receptionist area on a rotating basis.
  • Direct telephone calls, screen mail, and coordinate meetings, presentations, and conferences.
  • Learn and assist with the refinery badging system during the front desk backfill and during high traffic events such as during a refinery turnaround
  • Plan and oversee the transfer of archived information following record retention policies.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality working with employee records and information.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office) and other refinery-specific software.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • 2+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations


Additional Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Computer skills in refinery-specific software (SAP; Prism, SharePoint)
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in office administrative support
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs
  • Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs and bins
  • Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
