Precision Ag Jobs

A precision agriculture specialist is responsible for applying geospatial technologies such as global positioning system (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) to agricultural production and management activities. Job responsibilities of a precision agriculture specialist include collecting information about soil and field attributes, creating, layering and analyzing maps showing precision agricultural data, maintaining records of precision agriculture information, analyzing geospatial data in order to determine possible implications for the farm, recommending improvements based on geospatial data, and dividing agricultural fields based upon soil characteristics and potential production.

A bachelor's degree in a related field is required to be a precision agriculture specialist. Helpful job skills include report writing ability, analytical skills, good critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, active listening, good communication skills, good IT skills, knowledge of industry, and good organizational skills. The future job market outlook for a precision agriculture specialist is good and increasing.
