We have an excellent opportunity for a Safety Supervisor to join our team in Arica, Chile!

The Safety Supervisor will be accountable for the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) of the Arica Research Center. The position will be responsible for implementing the EHS&S standards and protocol, developing a strong preventive and live safety culture on the site. The role has the responsibility of manage and update all records regarding safety and employee health, to fulfill legal and health department. Will ensure the site improvement plan development; as well as to provide professional and timely advising the leadership on ESH&S subjects. It is also required a strong connection with regional EHS&S contact, to ensure alignment with the company EHS&S strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan safety improvement plan for the site

  • Ensure implementation of safety standards that applied to Arica operation

  • Manage and track EHS&S employee and company records

  • Provide reports to the Site Lead to support EHS&S culture management and improvements

  • Lead all EHS&S subjects in site projects

  • Lead Safety Subcommittee assigned

  • Plan and provide trainings for full time and temporary employees

  • Supervision and develop talent

  •  Balance, prioritize and plan trainings for all employees on time

  • Review incidents trends and provide root causes analysis regarding safety events

  •  Detect incorrect behaviors and lead the culture changing process, using mindful examples and persuasion skills

  •  Implement EHS&S country legal requirements and be update of changes to lead implementation if is required        

  • Decide the timing and priority for EHS&S trainings

  •  Support decisions on disciplinary action for employees based on EHS&S not compliance

  •  Evaluate the quality of root causes reports for safety incidents and define if improvements are needed

Requirements:

  • University degree in Health and Prevention Engineering or a related areas. MS on environmental and legal is a plus.

  •  3 years' experience - preferably in agricultural companies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills. Proven ability to work well under limited situations and as key advisor or influencer for the site leadership. 

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Availability to work 100 % on site in Arica Research Center
