A dairy manager is responsible for overseeing the dairy production of a farm and the maintenance of the facilities and equipment used to produce dairy. Job responsibilities of a dairy manager include caring for the dairy cattle, performing maintenance on the dairy equipment and facilities, management of the herd, coordination of the feeding and milking, creating and implementing budget plans, maintaining records of what has been done to the cattle as well as production levels, and ensuring the quality of dairy being produced.
A high school diploma or an associate's or bachelor's degree in dairy management or a related field is required to be a dairy manager. Helpful job skills include attention to detail, strong communication skills, knowledge of dairy farming, good leadership skills, and ability to organize.
