A warehouse associate is responsible for loading and unloading freight, coordinating orders, and providing customer service. Some of the tasks an individual can expect to perform as a warehouse employee include accurately picking, packing and shipping orders, inspecting and maintaining their inventory, processing and packaging products so that orders make it to customers on time, and ensuring there is space in the warehouse for incoming shipments, including sometimes cleaning areas of the warehouse.
A high school diploma is required for the position. Helpful job skills include strong communication skills in order to coordinate orders with other employees, listening skills, ability to perform physical labor, good time management, and strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. The future job market outlook for warehouse employees is strong and increasing.
