Cattle Jobs

A cattle herd manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing the cattle herd and activities surrounding the maintenance and health of the herd. Job responsibilities of a cattle herd manager include developing and implementing a plan for the raising of the cattle, constructing the habitat for the cattle, maintaining the habitat for the cattle, determining optimal grazing fields, building barns that will protect animals from predators and weather, inspecting cattle for illness or injury, feeding of cattle, breeding of cattle, marketing of the cattle and cattle products, selling cattle, maintaining record of cattle production, and maintaining or adjusting of cattle environment to ensure maximum production levels and quality.

Generally, a high school diploma is required to be a cattle herd manager. Helpful job skills include good communication skills, active listening, ability to learn on the job, good problem solving skills, strong critical thinking skills, physical fitness, and knowledge of the industry. The future job market outlook for a cattle herd manager is steadily declining.
